I start a thread on the stuffs, tricks and routines we could use to improve our trading lifestyle : health, exercices, softwares, readings, etc. So if we dont manage to make big money from trading after years, we'll at least be better : more clever, more fit, more healthy, more balanced etc, that's a kind of hedge Wink

Getting regular SLEEP is key id say, eating health, and exercising regularly… but that said I've been lacking on the latter. Got to get back in shape! HOO HA

Oh yea and getting of your ass and living in the world, besides staying at your desk 24/7 … kinda hard when you are a small operation though… hmm

Also, i've been reading a great book on understanding China. If you have no real knowledge of China, reading this book gives a good preview of the history from the peoples republic of china 1945 to 2009. Knowing some prior history pre WWII does help but you can get the jist anyway with no working knowledge.

Anyway the title is:

"Understanding China (A Guide to China's Economy, History, and Political Culture) 3rd Edition"

by John Bryan Starr

Cheers

Health

- I use the "Cinderella strategy" during the week: in bed before midnight
- workout 3 mornings per week
- I have a salad for lunch twice per week (erf)
- drink 3.25 litres of water per day
- "mental" health : I try to do regularly some mental calculations exercices on http://www.mental-workout.com/

Market information

- I used to follow the "Morning shout" in the long room of FT Alphaville, but now the guy stopped
- I used to follow the "Macro Trader" blog but the guy left and now I find the guys less good
- I read regularly IFRMarkets and Informa FX analysis : I generally disagree their positions but the guys know where the stops are and the latest rumours
- I follow from time to time the "Live Markets" on FTAlphaville. some good stuffs

I like your 3x exercise in the morning routine. I should incorporate something regular like that as well. I like to work the other side of my brain as well, though I should be focusing on the math side more… but I find it good to develop my painting/music skills. Well if being well balanced is what we are aiming for so why not!

I guess this would be the proper place to vent my market frustration. Markets been not fitting trading criteria, and been making bad calls. Holed up in the basement for too long, lack of exercise! I think its time to make some changes here… some good discussion with Sauros helped put things in perspective but, still got to work things out.

Gonna try to take a bike ride everyday and try to review my approach to markets. Either way as they say…

patience is a virtue...

WORKING at it !!! Need tons of help in this area unfortunately. I mean, I know keeping records and using it to calculate expectancy, risk of ruin, and max loss are important. I can see it being used for back testing purposes, correlation building, what other VITAL things or useful things will traders do with excel.

I guess building portfolios and portfolio analytics? … hmm any insights would be awesome!
