To enhance the accountability of the YMCA to the communities, they have established a Values Line that can be accessed by the staff, volunteers and members who are impacted. The YMCA works hard to preserve the integrity of the organization in all arenas. The members can contribute to this legacy by being a voice when the integrity of the values is being comprised. One can contact the Values Line if the need arises at any point. The examples of a voice needing to be heard are situations like theft or dishonesty, accounting practices that are fraudulent, suspected child abuse or neglect, improper financial reporting, discrimination or harassment, security or safety violations, improper gifts or compensation, practices that violate any law or regulation, falsification of records and violation of any YMCA policy.
 
A volunteer’s talent can go a long way at the YMCA. Every moment the volunteer spends at the YMCA is transformed into the caring attention that a child needs to grow up healthy and resilient. Their time provides support for families and helps them to be successful and strong. The lives of people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and incomes and effected are transformed into healthier lives. A YMCA volunteer can lead an exercise class, read to a preschool class, coach a basketball team, cook for a bake sale, design a program brochure, greet people at the front desk, find items for an auction, serve as a role model for young people, help at a special event or in the office or be a part of a group or a committee working on a neighborhood problem.
