Uk Public Finances Post Larger Surplus in Jan




News
UK's public finances recorded their biggest monthly surplus in 4 years in Jan, driven by a drop in local Govt borrowing and a modest rise in tax receipts, National Statistics said
Public sector made a net repayment excluding financial interventions of 7.750 bln pounds v/s forecast of 6.3 bln pounds in Jan, up from 5.204 bln pounds in 2011
The Borrowing in FY 2011/12 came in at 93.451 bln pounds, down from 109.139 bln in 2010/11.
Govt borrowing is on track to meet or even fall below its target of 127 billion pounds in 2011/12,down from 136 bln in in 2011
The Govt receipts rose 2.8 pct y/y roughly in line with rise in total Govt expenditure.
Britain's total public sector net debt excluding financial sector interventions fell back to 988.7 bln pounds
